Looking at others – NGO Festival

Looking at others is a civil society informal initiative that started in 2016. with the goal of promoting civil society values to the public, promoting NGO work for the public good and the development of the local community, advocating for the betterment of institutional frame of support for civil society organizations’ agency on a local, regional and national level, and the empowerment of collaboration and solidarity within the sector.
The goal is also to present to the public the number, motivation, and persistence of NGO-s in achieving positive social change and in the advancement of life quality within the community. This campaign also aims to accentuate the fact that a large number of citizens are in some way or another connected with these associations, being as a member, volunteer worker, or a user of their services and activities.
The initiative Looking at others was started four years ago by a dozen of Rijeka’s associations to show the important and valuable work of NGO-s for all members of society. It all started with a guerilla action inviting citizens to “look at others”, and it ended with a festival of NGO-s in Molo Longo. Since 2016. up until today NGO-s regularly meet every May in Kont and in Kružna street.
